Using only renewable materials
IKEA of Sweden has big ambitions for 2030. They are determined to do their part in tackling climate change, unsustainable consumption patterns and inequality. In doing so, they focus on three areas: Healthy & Sustainable Living, Circular & Climate Positive and Fair & Equal.
Main activities
One of the ways to become a circular company, is to use only renewable materials including seaweed.
Currently, more than 60% of IKEA products contain renewable materials, and more than 10% contain recycled materials. Currently they're looking into seaweed as part of their Marine Materials Sourcing programme.
