Matured in the Vlielander cheese bunker
Making delicious cheese with and without seaweed based on one of the Dutch Islands called Vlieland.
On the highest dune of Vlieland, deep underground, there is a former drinking water bunker that Vlielander Bunkerkaas have been using since 2015 for the maturation of their special organic cheeses. One of their cheeses, the famous seaweed cheese, contains sea lettuce. They harvest the seaweed mainly on the Wad side of the island and the processing is largely done manually.
