Experience the possibilities of seaweed in Breskens

The Seaweed Hotel Room has arrived in Breskens for the summer, where it forms the centrepiece of the Zjí Seaweed Experience, hosted by ESWA member Zjí Sea Wellness.
For many people, seaweed is still primarily associated with sushi. Yet its potential extends far beyond food. Seaweed is increasingly being explored for applications ranging from skincare and textiles to tableware, drinks, building materials and home accessories.
The Zjí Seaweed Experience brings these possibilities together in one place. Visitors can discover a broad range of seaweed-based products, learn more about how seaweed is cultivated, harvested and processed, and experience some of the applications for themselves.
At the heart of the experience is the fully furnished Seaweed Hotel Room. By presenting seaweed-based products in a familiar and recognisable setting, the installation makes an emerging sector tangible and accessible. It allows visitors to see how seaweed could become part of everyday life, rather than remaining an abstract or distant innovation.
The experience is hosted by Caroline Buijsse of Zjí Sea Wellness, who develops and sells natural skincare products made with seaweed. Through these open days, she aims to introduce a wider audience to the versatility of this remarkable marine resource.

The experience is open to the public on:
12 and 19 August: 16:00–18:00
15 and 22 September: 10:30–12:30
On 5 September, Zjí Sea Wellness will host a special Seaweed Experience Day from 10:00 to 16:00. The programme will include tastings, workshops, wellbeing activities, exhibitors and presentations from other businesses based at the location.
Admission is free, and group visits can also be arranged by appointment.
