About the roadmaps

Designed as a collaborative tool, the roadmaps outline key steps for the sector's future growth and serve as a resource for stakeholders interested in the impacts and timeline of scaling up. Due to seaweed’s versatility and numerous applications, the European Seaweed Association has dedicated a roadmap to each relevant sector and estimated the economic, social, and environmental prospects of European seaweed production, charting a sustainable path forward. The following roadmaps are a product of consultations with key stakeholders in each of the sectors, and their content is summarized in formatted one-pagers. They are to be approached as living documents, as this exciting developing sector continues to grow. Join us in contributing to a seaweed-filled vision of Europe!

With each roadmap, you’ll be able to find their updated status as well as the corresponding scheduled webinars. Those webinars are aimed at opening the floor for discussions within the sector to determine together the future steps to take to develop seaweed in the industry. There will be two webinars per year for every roadmap, after which a later version of the full roadmap and one-pager will be updated. Those webinars will also be an opportunity for stakeholders to meet and discuss ways forward to scale up seaweed in their specific sector.
